Spring Walk for Peace

1st April 2014 Send Off for the Spring Walk For Peace organised by Scottish CND
At least 30 plucky singers turned up outside the Scottish Parliament to give the Spring Peace Walk a rousing send-off. The weather was playing an April Fool where Spring was concerned, it was very wet and cold. However the walkers were in fine spirits as they listened to words of encouragement from MSPs and we struck up The Freedom Come All Ye to start them on their journey. We escorted the walkers up the Royal Mile as far as St Giles and sang lustily as we went. A few of us found to our cost that singing whilst walking up a steep hill was not easy. They may have been wet but the walkers young and old, even the one in a buggy, had a spring in their step as they headed into the rain and mist.
