We meet one Saturday each month to learn songs of freedom and struggle from around the world. All are welcome. No need to read music, no singing experience necessary – just come along with your enthusiasm and your voice! No booking is required – just turn up on the day – and bring your friends!
Our monthly song workshops are usually (but not always) on the second Saturday of each month, except for a summer break, from 10am to 1pm.
Upcoming monthly song workshop dates for 2025 are:
- November 7th–9th (residential weekend),
- December 13th.
And for 2026 the dates are:
- January 17
- February 14
- March 14
- April 11
- May 9
- June 6
The venue is Broughton St. Mary’s Church, 12 Bellevue Crescent, Edinburgh EH3 6NE. It’s on the number 8 and 9 bus routes, or a few minutes walk from the 36, 23 or 27 routes. Bikes can be chained up in front of the building. The venue is accessible, though the entrance is a different to the main one most of us use — so do let us know if you need stair-free access and we’ll make sure someone is ready to meet you and show you the way!

Upcoming Events
Weekly vigil
Since October 2023, members of Protest in Harmony have held a weekly vigil to grieve, to sing together and to keep calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and for an end to the 75-year-long occupation of Palestine. We sing for peace and safety for everyone. Everyone. We meet every Friday from 12 noon to 1pm outside St Giles’ Cathedral. All are welcome to join us.
Our songs are easy to pick up, but we do have a songsheet you can bring along if you wish.
Stop Rosebank!
We will be singing outside Queen Elizabeth House at 11.30 on Friday 31st October to give a clear message to the UK Government that they should not grant Equinor a licence to create the huge new Rosebank oilfield. We will sing Leave the Oil in the Ground and the climate version of Bella Ciao, both of which are on the climate songsheet. We will take a video of ourselves singing which will be sent out on social media through the climate choirs network. Please bring Stop Rosebank placards/banners so we convey a clear visual message.
A Better Way is Possible
Scotland’s Climate March, Sat 15th November, Glasgow
We will be singing on Scotland’s Climate March in Glasgow on Sat 15th November. The march is timed to coincide with the dates of COP30 which is taking place in Brazil.
We will raise our voices in song in solidarity with communities around the world who have been the most affected by climate change, but who have done the least to cause the crisis. We join others in calling for an end to fossil fuels, a just transition, a fair system of climate finance, an end to deforestation and to keep alive our collective hope and action for a sustainable future for all. All are welcome to join us! We will post more details about travel arrangements and meeting points here as they emerge.
Here is the songsheet we will be using — you will find most of the songs on the website.
Falkirk For All
We plan to go and sing some songs of welcome for asylum seekers and refugees in Falkirk on 1st and 29th November (both dates to be confirmed). We will be singing at demos organised by Falkirk for All, a community-led group working to make positive change and to create a Falkirk that’s truly for everyone, in response to demonstrations orgnaised by anti-migrant protesters. All welcome.
Here is our songsheet.
