We meet one Saturday each month to learn songs of freedom and struggle from around the world. All are welcome. No need to read music, no singing experience necessary – just come along with your enthusiasm and your voice! No booking is required – just turn up on the day – and bring your friends!
Our monthly song workshops are usually (but not always) on the second Saturday of each month, except for a summer break, from 10am to 1pm.
For 2026 the dates are:
- February 14
March 14(replaced by singing at Faslane demo — see below)- April 11
- May 9
- June 6
The venue is Broughton St. Mary’s Church, 12 Bellevue Crescent, Edinburgh EH3 6NE. It’s on the number 8 and 9 bus routes, or a few minutes walk from the 36, 23 or 27 routes. Bikes can be chained up in front of the building. The venue is accessible, though the entrance is a different to the main one most of us use — so do let us know if you need stair-free access and we’ll make sure someone is ready to meet you and show you the way!

Sat March 14th — Stop The Nuclear Nightmare
SCND National Demonstration, North Gate, Faslane
Organised by Scottish CND, a coalition of anti-nuclear organisations will be demonstrating at the Faslane Naval Base on Saturday 14th March 2026, to raise the salience of the nuclear threat to Scotland. We will be singing to help make a strong statement against nuclear weapons ahead of the Scottish Parliament election in May. Everyone welcome.
Starting at the main North Gate with speeches from 13.00–14.00, followed by a trip up to the Glen Fruin Viewpoint which overlooks the base, from 14.00–15.00.
You’ll need to bring your own food and drinks for the day.
Please print a copy of the songsheet and maybe a few extra to hand out!:

Getting there
Come by car or coach — or there are trains and buses to Helensburgh; then a local bus to the North Gate (316 or 316A every half hour, from opposite the train station — takes 20 min) — though no public transport to Glen Fruin which is a fair trek uphill on narrow winding roads. You could hold the space at the gate during that time instead.

Weekly vigil
Since October 2023, members of Protest in Harmony have held a weekly vigil to grieve, to sing together and to keep calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and for an end to the 75-year-long occupation of Palestine. We sing for peace and safety for everyone. Everyone. We meet every Friday from 12 noon to 1pm outside St Giles’ Cathedral. All are welcome to join us.
Our songs are easy to pick up, but we do have a songsheet you can bring along if you wish.
